Key facts
One sentence
PrideChess is a mobile-first chess platform with Classic, Gay, Lesbian, Trans, and Non-Binary forms of chess in one shared game world.
Boilerplate
PrideChess reimagines chess as a family of five playable forms. Classic remains intact, while Gay Chess changes the royal structure, Lesbian Chess makes two queens Royal, Trans Chess introduces the original Ceneo Royal, and Non-Binary Chess uses Ardhanarishvara as its Royal piece. Players share one platform for play, progression, customization, and analysis across the PrideChipelago.
Variant media
01Two royal kings per side. Checkmate either one and the game ends.
02
03Two Ceneos per side: original PrideChess Royals with directional movement.
04Two Ardhanarishvara Royals per side, combining local movement with a special conditional leap.
Terminology
Preferred descriptions include “LGBTQ+ chess variants,” “queer chess,” and “a chess platform where representation changes gameplay.” PrideChess does not claim to have invented every historical two-king chess idea; its contribution is the complete PrideChess variant system and the wider family around it.
Cultural references
Ceneo draws its name from Caeneus/Ceneo in Greek mythology. Ardhanarishvara is a sacred figure in living Hindu traditions. PrideChess documents how those references are used and distinguishes its gameplay implementations from the cultural and religious figures themselves.
